Weight
loss is the goal of millions of people worldwide. It is not an easy
goal, this requires both physical and mental reconditioning to some
degree and let's face it, if it were easy there wouldn't be so many
people struggling with it.
The
problem with weight loss is rarely taking the first step. The problem is that
people give up after the first time they stumble. Rather than picking themselves
up and thinking, "'Okay, I tripped, it's time to dust off and get back to
work," we think "I've failed, let's go back to the chocolate cake, I
mean drawing board."
The
thing about weight loss is that we tend to focus on what we can't do or have
and that brings out negative emotions. These negative thoughts and emotions
overcrowd the positive affirmations we are trying so very hard to make. Once we
allow that to happen it's a downward spiral.
This
means that you must look at weight loss as a positive experience. Think
of how much fun it will be to dance off that cellulite or how great you are going
to look in your little black dress. Focus on how much fun it will be to go shopping
for a new wardrobe. Whenever you find thoughts of chocolate cake and the fact
that you can't indulge creeping in, squash it with thoughts of a better life once
you've taken the weight off.
Create
and remind yourself of affirmations every fifteen minutes until you don't need
them that often, then do it every thirty minutes. Remind yourself of your affirmations
until you no longer need to because those thoughts appear without effort. Positive
thinking is one of the most powerful tools in your weight loss arsenal. Use
it to your advantage because you can be assured that negative thoughts are the
worst enemies of weight loss.
