No
matter how hard we try to think positively and work on affirming these positive
thoughts and surrounding ourselves with positive influences there always seem
to be times when negative thoughts manage to creep back in. There is nothing
worse than convincing yourself that you can accomplish something only to have
doubt slink back in and completely erode your confidence.
Unfortunately,
we are human and this happens all the time. For those who find themselves trapped
in negativity, you may be well-known by friends and loved ones for limiting yourself.
Rather than broadening your horizons, you may be famous for watching from the
sidelines because, for whatever reason, you're convinced that you can't do something.
Sound familiar?
The
best way to replace a negative thought is by substituting a positive one.
Rather than thinking "I can't do that," try thinking "Wow, trying
that will be so fun!" This way you are being realistic in your approach,
no one can do everything, but you aren't limiting yourself without at least trying.
Even better, you aren't dooming yourself to failure by predicting failure. By
guiding your anticipations away from fear and limitations you can turn them to
thoughts of happiness and excitement. This puts you that much closer to success!
Sometimes
I think we allow negative thoughts to slip in simply because we are afraid. What
you need to do is replace fear in your mind with nervous excitement. Like all
affirmations it will take time to truly convince yourself but over time you will
begin to believe that the emotion you are mistaking for fear is really a case
of being excited and nervous at the same time. Don't let fear keep you from
doing the things you want to do. You will only be robbing yourself of potential
if you allow fear to rule your actions.
Negative
thoughts are like cancer, they breed and multiply and once they have infested
your system they take a great amount of time, effort, and attention to dispose
of. This time and effort could be so much better served achieving your goals than
in beginning again. Think of this whenever you are tempted to allow doubt and
negativity linger.
