Today
we're going to discuss something that is often overlooked in success
literature. It is a decision to succeed. Did you know that?
This
decision to succeed is something that every successful person makes.
Sure, a lot of people want success and spend a lot of time thinking
about it. But how many of them actively make the decision to
succeed? The answer is, quite frankly, very few.
Why
do we need to decide to succeed? It isn't enough to simply want
it; you have to actively make the choice to decide to succeed.
You see, thinking and wanting requires no commitment. By deciding
to succeed you are committing yourself to that purpose and once
you commit, life will respond in abundant ways.
When
you decide to succeed you make a dedication to yourself that
goes above and beyond simple desire. You must continue to nurture
success and achievement in your life, because you've decided that
you will, no matter what, succeed.
Nurturing
success is quite a bit more simple than it sounds. There are a few
simple steps you can take each day to improve your optimism and
your determination:
First, keep a daily journal of your successes. When you
are feeling stuck, or negative thoughts creep into your mind,
you can refer to this journal for validation of your abilities
and your worth. It will be an essential tool on your path to success.
Next,
start a second journal, or section of your first journal, to write
down things that you are grateful for. At the end of each day,
list five things that you consider to be blessings in your
life. By remembering your blessings and being grateful for
them you will begin to see other opportunities for success that
will help you along your way.
Acceptance
is another important piece of the puzzle. In order to grow
and to change, you must accept yourself as you are now.
You must have the confidence that you can succeed and that you
will succeed. When you make the decision to succeed you have to
have the knowledge that you are capable of achieving it. Your
mindset of success will naturally develop out of a confidence
in yourself.
Learn
how to make your mind your best friend. You must notice how negative
self-talk can be. The next time you have a negative thought
about yourself, ask yourself "What purpose is this serving?"
Instead of raking yourself over the coals when you experience failure,
think about the bigger picture.

All
successful people have slips and trips on their way to achieving
what they want. Bad experiences should be learning experiences,
and not fuel for negative self-talk. Release yourself from rehashing
the bad things from the past and move on toward the next step in
your commitment to success.
